Tuesday was bright and clear; our 13th day in a row!
We took a leisurely 30-minute ride from the port to Niagara Falls. It was interesting to see the agriculture this far north. We also went past some new vineyards that are being used for ice wine. Not sure how that will turn out.
The falls are so big with fast moving water falling over the cliffs that it’s hard to capture the scale in pictures. 3,160 tons of water flows over Niagara Falls every second. This accounts for 75,750 gallons of water per second over the American and Bridal Veil Falls and 681,750 gallons per second over the Horseshoe Falls.
We spent about 90 minutes looking at all three falls before driving around some more to take in the sights. It was such a perfect day that the guide kept wanting stop “just one more place.”
Returning to the ship we just lounged before dinner.
Tomorrow we will transit the Welland Canal (a series of 8 locks) to Lake Ontario—our fifth Great Lake—and then on to Toronto for departure.
