Day 3 - Nassau, Bahamas - Dec 23

Today was one that we hope continues throughout the voyage. We dd absolutely nothing!

After leaving Miami on Sunday night it was a short hop to Nassau in the Bahamas. We arrived right at dawn as part of a impromptu train of 4 ships. We were by far the smallest. Our 500-ish passengers did not compare to the nearly 9,000 people who got off the other 3 ships! I’ve included some comparative photos to give a sense of the disparity between small-format and gigantic.

In addition to the roller coaster on top of that big ship, they encourage passengers to walk out on a beam projected beyond the limits of the ship. What possible reason could anyone have for tempting fate like that? Seriously.

After breakfast we wandered into the port city. After about 15 minutes of being offered all kinds of “good buys,” we returned to the ship to sit on the side to alternate reading and napping.

Just before dinner we hung out in one of the unknown gems of the ship. The thalassotherapy pool. It’s a saltwater pool used for therapeutic purposes, such as improving circulation, reducing joint pain, and soothing the skin. It’s tucked into the bow of the ship in front of the exercise room. We hope the reclusiveness of it continues.

Dinner was in one of the specialty restaurants where I got my fix of beef tenderloin and Mae got her sea bass.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and the first of two sailing days. We’re looking forward to the festivities onboard starting with a special Christmas Eve dinner.
