Day 31 - Malaga, Spain - June 12

**Note** This post was delayed because there was virtually no Internet bandwidth yesterday.

Wednesday morning we arrived in Malaga. Malaga was founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century BC and is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It is a collection of high rise apartments near the water and beautiful beaches.

By design, we didn’t do anything today except wander through the back streets of the city. One of the conveniences of a small ship is that we can pull right into a city pier. You’ll see from the photos how we could just walk off the ship and be in the downtown district.

Azamara always includes an “Azamazing Evening.” On this voyage it was a trip to a local hacienda for an introduction to exquisite horsemanship and flamenco dancing. The horses were beautiful and demonstrated a form similar to dressage but not the same. The flamenco dancing was great. The guitar player was so easy to listen to and the main singer was so expressive. We couldn’t understand what he was saying but the connection between him and the dancers was palpable.

On return to the ship we went back to “our bar.” They have a way with smoking a drink that prolongs the smoke in the glass. I grabbed a shot of Mae’s drink while the smoke was still in it.
