Days 1 & 2 - Getting to Japan- Apr 15/16

We’re off on another adventure. This time to spend a few days in Tokyo and then hop on a cruise around the country. It seems like many cherry blossoms are past their prime here in Tokyo, but hopefully as we move around the island we’ll get to see some. We’re traveling with another couple, Dave and Lynn, and expect to have a ton of laughs

The A350-900 we came over on is the flagship LA Olympics plane and well-appointed. The trip over was uneventful, but LONG. We left the house at 4:30 AM Eastern on the 15th and arrived at our hotel at about 4:00PM local time. Because Japan is 13 hours ahead of Eastern, it was about a 23-hour journey.

After waiting about an hour in line at Haneda Immigration due to the large number of arrivals, we followed a picture trail to try and find our driver. Once we had made contact, it was about a 20-minute drive to the hotel.

Mae and I rested a few minutes and then went discovering. We found a hole-in-the-wall noodle shop that was fantastic. From there we headed back to the hotel for a nightcap. Not wanting to have Kentucky Bourbon in Japan, I tried Suntory Old Whisky. It could become my new favorite.

At about 9PM as we were chatting in the lounge, we hit a wall and called it a night.
